Long stretches of breaking even with some sharp ups and downs that would span 30k hands at a time, and every so often I’d hit a sick heater that lasted very short but would ever so slightly bump the line trend higher and higher. This is similar to how my 150k hand graph looked before I started on a bankroll challenge. I have some ideas for things to work on in my game, but it would sure be encouraging to know I’m at least playing a breakeven strategy up to this point. If instead I were truly a -5 BB/100 player and suffered from a standard deviation of bad luck, I’d probably be losing about 10 BB/100. My thought is if I’m a breakeven player and suffer from nearly a full standard deviation of bad luck in the three categories that are most responsible for winning big pots, it’s fair to think my results would be a standard deviation below breakeven. I’d think not all luck can be attributed to these three factors, but it’s all the info I have. My question is this: how much of my -4.6 BB/100 rate would you attribute to that bad luck? Mathematically, the 0.9 standard deviations of bad luck applied to 5.77 BB/100 standard deviation would equate to 5.19 BB/100 of bad luck, meaning I “should” be a winning player (albeit slightly). Averaging those out you get 0.9 standard deviations of bad luck. Now I go to my Poker Tracker Luck Bell Curve and see my flush luck is about 1.2 standard deviations below the mean, straight luck is about 0.9 below, and set luck is about 0.6 below. When I punch my data into an online poker variance calculator it says the standard deviation at 30k hands is 5.77 BB/100. I’ve played 30k hands and am losing 4.6 BB/100 (3.2 all-in adjusted). I have a question about the impact of luck on my results on Ignition. Been playing on Ignition as well as live 1/2 for a few months now. I’m new to giving poker a shot as a source of supplemental income. /r/lottery - A community for everything lottery./r/chipporn - If you like to admire & share chip stacks./r/pokercirclejerk - If you need more poker memes./r/pokervids - For poker related videos.Otherwise these threads may be deleted at the moderators' discretion.
